Behind The Lens
Location
We were out exploring the battlefields of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and found this section of RR tracks among the old canons and empty fields.Time
This was taken mid-day on a late Fall day.Lighting
I most often make use of natural light in my photos, and I try to use that light to my best advantage.Equipment
I shoot with a Canon T4i, free-held without a tripod, and my favorite lens, a Tamron 18-270mm.Inspiration
I love taking photos from unusual perspectives and post-processing them in ways that draw the viewer into the photo in the way I hope they find to be a personally meaningful way. When I saw the tracks, I couldn't help but put the 'traveling sunglasses' out for a shot. The Traveling Sunglasses are part of a series with my partners fav sunglasses showing up in shoots from around our travels.Editing
I use a variety of post-processing programs and methods. My 'go-to' programs are Lightroom, Photoshop Elements and Pixlr although Pixlr is mostly reserved for photos taken with my iPhone6.In my camera bag
I rarely carry a big camera bag but when I do I carry not only some basics like extension tubes for some of my macro work, but also other things like handi wipes, bandaids, hand sanitizer, and a collection of "toy props" since I have recently been playing with photos using Lego figures as the subjects in real-world situations.Feedback
My best advice is to find interesting locations and change your prespective. Trying getting lower on the ground, even on your belly as I did in this pic. Or find another way to change the perspective for your viewer. The world has SO many different ways to see it; find them.
