A 1000 word photo! Clarity, light, tone even the colour in his cheeks. Perfect and quite remarkable. Congrats on this work.

Highly recommend you enter this in Wet Surfaces contest, amongst a few others. This is easily a contender.

This photo was taken in Jakkula, Finland, about a hour from Helsinki. Our summer place has a old dairy and because of the lovely natural light it provides, it's a great place to take pictures. I use it as a studio every summer.Time
I love to use window light because it sets a soft tone with a combination of shadows and natural lighting. This was taken during the summer of 2014 and I had set the photo session at noon to capture the perfect filtered light.Lighting
All I use is natural lighting. It takes time to learn how to work with it but it's worth it.Equipment
I used Canon EOS-1Ds Mark, with a 50mm lens.Inspiration
I specialize in children's vintage portraits and every summer I have clients come to my studio. This young sailor is Michael and he was a little camera shy. Sometimes the shyness works great to capture the innocence.Editing
I edited this picture in Adobe Light Room adding a little contrast and sharpening. Also, Is used Smart Photo editor to add on the texture to emphasize the rain effect. In my camera bag
I carry two Canon EOS-1Ds Mark cameras with a 70mm-200mm lens, one 100mm lens and a 50mm lens. I also carry a tripod.Feedback
Anyone working with children know, patience is a virtue. I use a lot of vintage clothing to give that extra timeless touch. Studio props are always helpful especially with kids. In this picture I dressed Michael in a old sailor's suit and gave him a teddy bear to hold. Take time adjusting your settings before you work with kids. If you are going to be shooting with window light be careful not to over expose.
