Behind The Lens

Location

On the Ayrshire coast on the west of Scotland near the harbour in Ayr.

Time

This was in the late evening just as the sun was going down.

Lighting

I love the interactions we get very often in this area when the clouds build up over the island of Arran in the Firth of Clyde and the afternoon sun sends light rays through the edges of and the breaks in the clouds. We can often see the rain falling on the island or out at sea as the winds drive the prevailing weather towards us. This was one of those days.

Equipment

Simply taken with my Samsung WB690 compact digital. This is the camera I always have with me in the car and when I go walking either in the countryside or along the coast.

Inspiration

I always have my digital compact camera with me as I go on my walks and whenever I see a scene which inspires me I shoot off a few pics using either the Smart mode on the camera or I sometimes experiment with different setting. What I love is the fact that I may be the only person in the world to be appreciating the works of mother nature just at that time and I have the privilege of being able to share them with others on the web when I post them.

Editing

No post-processing.

In my camera bag

I only have the digital camera with me most of the time. I used to carry a bag-full of bodies and lenses when I took slides but now I'm happy with my little compact digital.

Feedback

Always carry a simple digital camera with you even when you don't have the "big" stuff. You never know when something with catch your eye.
