Location
This image was taken on the way to Bondi Beach. I live in Australia but dont get to bondi very often so it all looked new and amazing to me. I could see a group of people together and i liked the shapes that they made against the brilliant sparkle on the ocean and the rays of the sun falling onto them.Time
It was probably about 10am. Very hot already. I was there for Sculpture by the sea and had a great sense of anticipation about what i would see. I was also happy to be close to the ocean as it was a swelteringly hot day. A swim was definitely on the cards.Lighting
This was a very spontaneous shot. I was very pleased with light when i reviewed the image later.Equipment
I wish i could say i used a great camera.... I took this on my iphone ( it seems to be my weapon of choice lately)Inspiration
Watching people having fun in the sun. I think there is a selfie going on. It was just a snapshot of people doing what they do.Editing
I bumped up the contrast a little higher to make the rays of the sun more pronounced. I also cropped the foreground slightly to get a mailbox effect. In my camera bag
iphone, sometimes a compact (i am in the market for a new camera - stay tuned)Feedback
I take a camera with me everywhere i go. I learnt the hard way ( i was holding a baby octopus in my hand at the beach one day, it was the size of a fifty cent piece but i didnt have a camera to record it! 5 mins later i found a blue ringed octopus - again, no camera). I havent left home withot a camera since. I dont tend to plan the pictures i take, i just try to record what i see. If the image is close to what i see when i am taking it then i think i have done a good job.
