Great picture, lighting and composition. Might be even better though if you aligned the door to the vertical. This would draw the eye in more. Tried to award you, but View Bug would not take the award.

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in St Ives, Cornwall in England, I was exploring off the beaten track and was amazed how just an old door can make such a good photo.

Time

It was later on in the day while it was still sunny, the natural light in St. Ives is amazing and the town is famous for many artists setting up studios due to the abundance of the natural light, the simplicity of the shot is aided by the light.

Lighting

Equipment

I just used the standard camera on my iPhone 5c. I love the end result and it just goes to show you don't have to have loads of expensive kit to produce good shots. I really pleased how just a phone camera can give you the same sense of achievement as using traditional cameras and Lenses.

Inspiration

I like the way the paint is peeling on the door. I like the challenge of portraying three dimensional texture in a two dimensional photo.

Editing

As I took the photo on the iPhone I used the snap-seed app to further enhance the picture.

In my camera bag

All of My other work is with a Nikon D80 body 50mm prime and 18-35mm lenses. I always travel with a tripod and wireless remote. More recently I've started using a go pro hero 4 with varied results. I have a great 'in wave' picture that's going to be added to my portfolio very soon!

Feedback

sometimes the simplest of subjects can produce some of your best shots. Believe in yourself and what you want to shoot and don't compare your work too much with everyone else's. Photography is an expression of you and you only. Enjoy every outing with your camera and good results will be sure to follow!
