Behind The Lens

Location

The image was shot in the back stairwell of an old art deco designed office building in Detroit. I had just gotten my hands on a 360 camera and was heading out to give it a try, when I saw the open stairwells light.

Time

It was mid-day and the stairwell was naturally lit by large windows at every landing for three stories.

Lighting

natural from stairwell windows

Equipment

Insta360 One X on their 10-foot extension pole. Natural lighting

Inspiration

The stairwell is art deco with multi-colored ceramic tiles. You can see all the way down to the street level. I mostly wanted to see what it all would look like in 360.

Editing

The abstract was accomplished in post using small plant techniques. The swirling look was a natural result from the circular nature of the stairwell.

In my camera bag

I rarely carry a bag.

Feedback

360 imagery...kind of a new thing. There's no way to tech it. You just have to go out and play.
