Location
This Photo Was Taken in a small fishing village in the Lofoten Norway. Eliassen Rorbuer is situated on the tiny island of Hamnøy by the spectacular fiord of Reinefjord, in the western part of Lofoten, nearby Reine.Time
It was around 9:30/10pm we had just arrived in the fishing village and settled in and went out for our fiirst walk.. this was takin from a bridge looking down upon the small village....Lighting
The days grow a bit longer in February but the sun never rises much over the horizon. It’s a mix of short days and long nights... It is at this time in the year you are on the look out for the Northern Lights.Equipment
To capture this photo I used a Canon 5d mark iii,a Manfrotto tripod and the lens was a Canon 16-35mm 2.8.. exposure was 15 sec at f/2.8 ISO 400Inspiration
We had set out to n=Norway to see the Northern Lights.. We had been there 6 days and still had not seen the light.. We were leaving back for the main land in 7 hours and the lights exploded across the sky.. Luckily there was plenty to fall in love and photograph when ther were no lights in the sky.. this picture came during the down time... :)Editing
This photo has very little processing to it, just minor corrections to color and tune ups in LightroomIn my camera bag
I have been a long time Canon shooter and when I took this photo I typically would have in my bag a 5d Mark iii A 6d, 24-70mm v2 2.8, 16-35mm 2.8, (sometime 70-200mm 2.8) Plenty of memory cards and extra camera batteries, a lens pen, a canon speedlite 600ex-rt, a tactical flashlight, small microfiber towel, biz cards... But I actually now have pretty much switched to a lighter pack and carry Sony A7Rii, Sony A7s, 35mm sony zeiss 1.4, Sony Zeiss 24-70 4 and a sony 24-240mm.Feedback
Advice.. Bring a tripod and just settle in relax and shoot......
