In service with the USAF since 1955, the B-52 is a fearsome, and unmistakable sight. The USAF has stated they intend to keep her in service until at least 2045, an incredible 90 years of active service. The aircraft performing the flying display at Avalon flew a 16 hour round trip from her base in Guam for a 2 pass display. More commonly known as BUFF (Big Ugly Fat Fucker), the B-52 will go down in history as a true icon in Aviation.

Thanks for providing Details. The first one that I saw was turning in for a landing in Abilene, Texas. I wasn't prepared for how absolutely huge they are.

My last flight in a B-52 was in a G model in 1979. My longest mission was 26 hours. The thing was old back then and it's still flying. It was complex, a beast to handle, but totally reliable.
