My morning commute starts at 6:30 am EST. I always stop at the marina around the corner from my home. I sit there and wait to see what kind of a sunrise we’ll have that morning.Lighting
I love the mornings that have clouds and vibrant colors as the sun comes up. Having the sunrise on the water’s surface means I get a two-for-one gift as the reflection gives double the pleasure of the beautiful sunrise.Equipment
I have a Canon T5i and used a Canon 18-200mm lens. 1/125. 60mm 7.1 aperture. No flash. I always go freehand on my commute mornings. My tripod shots are normally used for sunsets and nature shots.Inspiration
I LOVE sunrises and sunsets. I stop every day just in case. This morning was so beautiful I had to share it.Editing
This photo needed no help. But I do use LightRoom for clarity, highlights and shadows on many of my landscape and nature shots. In my camera bag
I use a backpack camera bag. I carry my T5i body, a Canon macro lens (60mm and 100mm), Canon 75-300mm lens and the kit 55mm lens. I also have multiple filters for each, monopod, lens tissue, extra battery and multiple memory cards.Feedback
Find a spot with interesting terrain that will look good as a shaddow or backdrop. Be patient. Many times the sun will come up and the sky or clouds will change shortly after. Take shots right at sunrise and shots after. Just like the sunset that will have a butst of color 15-20 minutes after the sun goes down ... the sunrise can be even better if you wait to see what else appears shortly after the sun is slowly going higher in the sky. Be patient. Some days you will be blessed with an amazing shot you may have walked away from too soon.
