This photo was taken in Paris in the 3rd or 4th Arrondissement. this photo won a second place in the South Dakota Photo contest earlier this year put on by the Brookings Art Council and open to all photographers in South Dakota.Time
It was taken at 12:05pm Paris time.Lighting
It was a rainy overcast day with poor lighting and lots of glare from the water.Equipment
I shot this with my Samsung Galaxy 4S. I didn't want to take my DSLR out in the rain and we were just going for a quick lunch anyway.Inspiration
I walked past the ally without looking and my wife said, "look at this". So I stopped and was immediately drawn into the ally with its curve and interesting storefronts and greenery. Not having any other way to capture it I used my phone.Editing
I used Lightroom to up the contrast a bit because the lighting was so flat and there was too much glare to see the colors in the cobblestones. I then added a little clarity to bring out the detail. Other than that it is "as shot".In my camera bag
Usually I would have my Canon 6D and my 35-135mm lens.Feedback
TAKE YOUR CAMERA! I could have done so much more with my DSLR. Which, by the way, is waterproof for the most part. I would have adjusted the WB and probably brought down the exposure a little. I would have had better depth of field and a wider angle on this shot with my camera. That would have given me a bit more creative opportunity in post.
