Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken when my husband I had been living on Friday Harbor. We had finally received a day off work and we had decided to tour some of the San Juan Islands(Orcas Island in Washington State).I took about 259 pictures that day at the Moran State Park.

Time

We had boarded the Washington State Ferry at about 7:30 am on August 22, 2011. After departing from the ferry my husband and I headed towards the center of the Island. I took this picture at 10:37 am.

Lighting

The sun was just coming to the top of the trees and playing peek a boo with us because it was overcast. It was not the ideal lighting. I was able to wait for the clouds to opened a window for the perfect picture.

Equipment

This picture was shot with my Canon Rebel T2i, attached to my camera was my 18-55mm lens. No flash was used. I did not have a tripod in my inventory at that time, so I just used a fallen tree as my tripod.

Inspiration

I don't always know where or at what I am taking photo's of. I just look at everything and something inside me says " take a picture" and I do. When looking at this water fall, I felt at peace and I wanted to take that feeling home with me.

Editing

No post-processing was preformed.

In my camera bag

In my camera bag, I always have my Canon Rebel T2i, several filters, at least 2 extra batteries fully charged, 2 thumb drives, several lenses', along with all of this I always carry lens cleaning equipment, you never know when you may need it.

Feedback

The Northern West coast is known for the green plants, because of all the rain. Which means its cloudy most of the time. Being a photographer you need to be patient and let the opportunity happen. You never have to settle this day in age, due to not seeing your photo's till you have them printed. Take your time and get the picture you really want. I am a self taught photographer. When I take a picture, I want my viewer to look at it and to make it seem as if they are standing in the same place I was when I took the photo. I want the viewer to see what I see when looking through my lens.
