Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Great Sand Bay between Eagle River, MI and Eagle Harbor, MI in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula.

Time

This photo was taken in the evening, around 6 pm in the fall of 2014 after an intense day of rock hunting along the shores of Lake Superior! It was actually pretty foggy out over the water and you could see the fog blowing inland off of the lake.

Lighting

No lighting enhancements or anything of the kind here, just nature doing what it does so well, looking beautiful.

Equipment

This photo was taken with my NON iPhone, a Samsung Intensity 3.

Inspiration

I love they way this "zig zag" staircase looks both going up and down. This one is here as an attempt to restore the surrounding dune ecosystem. I love Lake Superior and nature and living in the U.P. and am constantly taking photographs. I love the perspective of this photo as the stairs recede in the distance.

Editing

No post processing, just sent the picture from my phone to my e-mail and posted it as is!

In my camera bag

I am down to my phone as equipment these days. I am in the need of a new camera as mine is broken, and that was a Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS. Other than that, I just rely on nature (shadows, sunlight, scenes) to entice me and create a beautiful photo!

Feedback

I am in no position to give advice since photography is a hobby of mine and I have no training of any kind. I just think it there is something that catches your attention and inspires awe, TAKE A PICTURE! It doesn't have to be a masterpiece, the simple act of a photo resurfacing a memory is worth the while.
