My sons engagement announcement day,. and I caught him on the right in the shadows talking to his mate Steve (or should I say No3 son) having a chat.Time
Inside during the day with filtered light through the doorway.Lighting
Just that it was right on the mark for this special shot, light coming from the doorway.Equipment
Bought a Canon EOS 600D Twin Pack just to have a go, and try to get ready for the wedding shots. So it was only weeks into trying the camera out that I got this shot using the 55 -250 lens. I hate people posing, and took random long range photos, no tripod just point and shoot.. My little point and shoot would not give me the depth that i wanted to get in my photos.Inspiration
Always only had small digital cameras with facial detection and wanted something better and more creative. With both my sons marrying soon I wanted to see if my artistic side was still there, and whether I could get a camera to show what I was seeing.Editing
Yeah the camera came with a programme called, Digital Photo Professional. look I am still a novice at this and just play around with the Raw and RGB on it to see what I can come up with. This one did not need much, a bit of contrast and brightness and black out a few shiny spots. Maybe it was fluke, well if it was, I think a good one. Oh yeah found a few dust spots, and got rid of them. That's it, no real skill just playing with a camera, and if i do it enough, maybe it will sink in. Just having fun.In my camera bag
Cannon EOS 600D 55-250 lens, 18-55 lens, cleaning brush and cloth, lens hood, the bare basics, no external flash, hope your not disappointed. Does me at this stage.Feedback
Experiment and be willing to play with settings. Don,t discard anything until you have had a go at post production. What was in you minds eye, might not be on your screen, but in all that RAW data, there may be something better. Like I said I am a self taught ( or should I say, still teaching) and still experimenting. One day I might have the coin to do a course. But at 60, I am afraid it won't sink in. So if its technical stuff you want, go to a pro. Be happy experimenting and steer away from those posed school photo shots.
