Another type of wasps called yellow jackets in fact did chase me through the woods in 1982. They tried to get in my eyes, squinting and running, I fell over a dead tree, lost some of them there, kept running, nearing the river I fell again in a little valley near the river. That lost the rest of them. They were swarming me, and all over my light colored sweat shirt. By the grace of God only 2 stung me. One on each hand. 4 of us were marking pathways with machetes to go fishing. I never saw the thousands of yellow jackets down at the base of the tree till I made me way back to the tree where I dropped the machete, can of worms, and fishing pole. Was 'not' a pleasant day.
