Behind The Lens

Location

I took tjis photo in Little Cayman, the smallest of the 3 islands in the Caymans.

Time

I took this photo on a rare dive where I'm not with students or guests. It's my only opportunity to dive with my camera. This was taken around midday when the sun is atits highest and able to just use the ambient light available to me.

Lighting

Get close to your subjects underwater!

Equipment

This was taken with one of my first underwater cameras I ever owned. A point and shoot Olympus SP350.

Inspiration

Rays are great subjects and with the wide angle lens was able to get the curvature of the bottom topography.

Editing

The image was originally in colour. I changed it to B&W using Lr.

In my camera bag

My Nikon D7000. A go to lens being my 28-300mm and my trusty 35mm prime.

Feedback

Underwater photography is totally different than topside. I use 3 lenses when shooting underwater. A tokina 10-17mm for the wide angle shots and both 60mm amd 105mm for my macro stuff. Strobes are a must. I use Ikelite 151's.
