Behind The Lens

Location

Snapper rocks Qld Australia

Time

Mid morning

Lighting

The sun was pretty high so it was well lit. I'd rather shoot these "backwash" shots in the morning with the light behind the wave lighting it up

Equipment

I shot this with my old camera Canon EOS 50 & a 55-250mm kit lens Handheld

Inspiration

My love of the ocean,I Love capturing its power & beauty Ever since I seen a Clark little image I wanted to shoot waves

Editing

Yes,just some simple adjustments in LR

In my camera bag

My Canon 5D MK iii,Canon 17-35mm 2.8, Canon 70-200mm 2.8,my lightweight manfrotto tripod,a circular polariser,a 9 stop ND filter & always an umbrella/poncho & a torch

Feedback

Besides the obvious high shutter speed,I'd say do your research & spend a lot of time in the area you want to shoot.Learn to read the ocean as best as you can with tides, the way the waves are breaking on the day etc Learn to position yourself in the right spot & be prepared to spend hours waiting for just the right wave & conditions to get that shot
