Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Gabarus Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

Time

The sun had nearly set on this August evening.

Lighting

Natural light is always the best!

Equipment

Canon 100D and a standard lens (18-55).

Inspiration

I vacation in the area every year and always enjoyed the sunsets over the bay.

Editing

No post processing. I prefer to get the shot right the first time. Ok, most times I get lucky and this was one of those instances. My post processing when required is slight adjustments to exposure and colour.

In my camera bag

I carry a Canon 700D. My favourite lens is the 50MM STM with 1.8 aperture, great little video lens. Other lenses include the 18mm to 200mm, 75mm to 300mm. I use a basic tripod with quick release shoe. I have a couple canon speed flashes and LED lighting.

Feedback

Patience is the key to getting a great sunset photo. In this instance it was a full week before the weather cleared enough to get this photo. Some sunsets lack the colours and vibrancy I am aiming for. The good thing about them is another will be along soon!
