It was -22F on a cold winter morning on a drive down the TransCanada from Canmore to Calgary, Alberta. I pulled over to take an image of the frost on the fence wires and got so absorbed in the micro world of the ice crystals that I failed to notice the horses that had gathered round to watch. Their frosty breath gave me quite a start and this was the shot I got when I looked up.
