Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at my friends farm in Sheldon, MN. I remember just looking at all the different textures and the worn barnwood. As I took the picture I thought I was simply outside looking in, but as I looked at it again I realized I was seeing the fall colors behind. I guess it's a matter of perception.

Time

As far as I remember this picture was taken midday. We were out for a drive and my teenage daughter wasn't too thrilled with me at that moment I wanted to stop. Now she understands the importance of times like these.

Lighting

I just used natural lighting for this. It was a beautiful fall day so I didn't feel that much was needed for this picture at the time.

Equipment

I simply used my D3200, tripod, and 55-200 lens. Very simple but that's all I need.

Inspiration

I love capturing things on camera that otherwise may be overlooked. Everything has a story worth telling but just needs a little assistance. Sometimes you just have to take time to capture a moment and share with others. Practice, practice, practice.

Editing

I did do a bit of saturation this picture to bring out the natural grain in the wood. I thought that it really helped accentuate how worn the wood was. I also wanted to accentuate the nails which is what the saturation definitely helped with.

In my camera bag

I simply carry my camera which is a D3200, 2 lenses, extra battery packs, and an extra SD card. I try and keep things pretty simple because that's how I am. Right now I'm just trying to establish myself as a photographer.

Feedback

If you see something that looks interesting take a picture and you'll more than likely find something beautiful. I believe there is beauty in everything. Just share the world through your eyes with others. This is how we all improve ourselves. Have fun.
