I took this photo on the edge of a peaceful golf course across from a relative's house in central Illinois. I was so thrilled to notice the tall grass and the sunset at just the right time! I would have missed it if I had been out later that evening.Time
I do not know the exact time or date but it was probably around 6 p.m (as it is a photo of the sunset) :) during the summer of 2014. It was a beautiful evening with a gentle breeze. (That's why I was outside.) The view of the sunset across the golf course was so captivating that I couldn't resist the shot.Lighting
I love silhouette images and always have; I am a desperate romance and I am easily intrigued by the mysterious. Silhouette images capture both of those emotions for me, thus I was thrilled with the way the grass was silhouetted against the glow of orange sky.Equipment
I used my good old Nikon D40 with a zoom lens that was given to me by a friend. That's it. :)Inspiration
As I said before I love silhouettes, I had never taken one before and really wanted to. When I walked out onto the front porch and saw the scene before me I think I just stood staring at it for a moment and then ran across the street to take the photo.Editing
No, I did not. I try not to do any editing on my photos. In my camera bag
On an average day you can find my camera bag filled to the point of bursting with my Canon Rebel Xsi body and several different lenses, a macro lens, a zoom lens and a 55mm lens. A few lens filters that I am learning how to use, extra SD cards, a flash, extra AA batteries, a hair tie and chap-stick.Feedback
Keep your eyes open for the little things, that is what photography is about right? Capturing the little things in life. This photo is something we see almost every day but probably never notice! (Grass against a sunset) Take multiple shots of the same scene from different angles, you never know what kind of awesome photo you can get. Don't be afraid to get dirty or look strange by laying on the ground with your body contorted in odd shapes to capture a photo... if someone comments on it just smile and let it go or show them your awesome photo!! ;)
