Location
Cannon Beach, Oregon at the Oregon coast. Was with my wife on a long weekend trip which made some good memories. It was a great trip but outside was dark gloomy and rainy. One evening it stopped and I ran to the beach to take some photos. While it was very cloudy, just as sun was setting there was an opening through the clouds!Time
Winter time right at sunet, sun finally broke through for a few minutes before night.Lighting
Low light, dark and gray gloomy sky, with a surprising contrast the sun! Rare event in Oregon in winter.Equipment
Sony a3000 camera, Sony SEL1855 lens, f/11, handheld and shot at low perspective along the sand.Inspiration
While Haystack Rock is a common photo theme in Oregon, I wanted to create a different perspective to share. While most photos make Haystack the obvious main subject, I wanted to give the viewer to take in the coast first and have their eye drawn to the rocks. Having a mini discovery.Editing
RAW image to black and white and minor adjustments within Lightroom as already dark made rocks more defined silhouettes. In my camera bag
Sony SEL55210 and Raynox150 for macro. Recently been practicing with a old Canon FD 50mm 1.8 as a manual focus lens.Feedback
I've loved art all my life but life has forced art to the side for too long. Just recently got back into it. While I've had cheap disposable cameras in the past, last November I got my first interchangeable lens camera and been having loads of fun since. It's been difficult as been mainly self learning, reading and taking many... many photos practicing. So don't give up and keep taking photos!
