I took this picture 2 years ago at the Riverbanks Zoo Columbia, SC. I was looking at some professional animal photographs on google, and there was a good bit with black backgrounds! so I was like, hmm, how did they do that. So I googled it and some was done by lighting and some was done by lightroom. So, I was just messing around with the edits and I figured out a way to do it(: I was so thrilled! I stayed up all night trying to figure out how to. I just painted the background black and messed with the lighting and ba-bam! it came out half way decent ;)

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at the Riverbank Zoo.

Time

Afternoon

Lighting

When I took the photograph the elephant was facing the sun. I toned down the brightness on its face and changed it to B&W.

Equipment

I used my Canon Rebel T1i. The lens I was using was my 70-300.

Inspiration

I was always amazed how other photographer's got a black background on there photos. I was determine to figure out how they did it. So, I got on YouTube and started looking up some videos on how to get a black background in your photos. And this is how mine turned out :)

Editing

In my camera bag

Canon T1i. Lens 70-300
