Behind The Lens

Location

I found this lily in a pond in Gulf Shores Alabama. It was on the grounds of Martinique on the Gulf Community. The development is adjacent to the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge and is teaming with wildlife. This location has become a favorite family getaway location.

Time

Stumbled upon this scene just before the “golden hour” at dusk.

Lighting

Those last rays of sunlight made the waterlily “glow” against the inky blackness of the water.

Equipment

I used my Canon 7D ii with my Tamron 70-200 F/2.8 handheld to catch this one.

Inspiration

I had been fascinated all week with this lily pond and the wildlife who visited. While waiting to catch the sunset over the pond, I found this lonely illuminated lily.

Editing

In Lightroom, I boosted contrast, detail and converted to b/w.

In my camera bag

I always have an assortment of lens with me.

Feedback

Stop and smell the roses.... well, the lilies, I guess. I never intended to take this picture, but by stopping and observing my surroundings, I let it find me. Get out there and click it.
