This photo was taken in the home of one of my dear friends. This is her baby, 9 days new, sweet little Henley Grace! It wasn't an easy shoot in regards to space and lighting but we made the best of it. Ended up in the kitchen next to a large picture window.Time
I arrived at the home at around 1:30 pm and began shooting by 2 pm. The session lasted about 2.5 hours and this sweet baby was picture perfect the entire time! I couldn't get enough of this Littlest Angel!!!!Lighting
I used both natural light and off camera flash bounced either from the ceiling or off of a side wall. We had an East facing window and it was a sunny day so I couldn't have asked for better lighting under the circumstances. Natural light alone wasn't enough, however, so I did have to supplement with some off camera flash.Equipment
The love of my life.....my Canon 5D Mark iii was used along with 24-70mm/2.8 lens, remote off camera flash. Lots of the usual baby prop items such as posing bean bag, space heater, white noise, prop rolls, wraps, hair ties and accessories.Inspiration
I was sitting home one day and remembered this beautiful head piece that my sister gave me some time back. I have never used it before in a photo shoot but suddenly the vision came to me of how I could incorporate it into my upcoming newborn shoot with baby Henley Grace. So I got to work planning on just the right items to be used with it and you see the results. PERFECTION. and then the name, Littlest Angle came to me and I knew this photo had it's name!Editing
I always post process my images. It is my belief that photography is art and that I create my art through both the camera lens and through post processing. In this photo, I did the usual corrections to the RAW file, white balance, clarity, sharpness, etc and then imported the image into Photoshop where I felt it would be best suited in a square crop. I then added a very soft black and white conversion with a hint of haze. <3In my camera bag
For newborns....A LOT! I would say, what equipment do I have in my bag and cart! But, in my photo bag itself, I carry my camera with wrist strap, canon 24-70mm/2.8 lens, flash, remote transmitter, light diffuser and extra batteries.Feedback
My advice in capturing the perfect photo is to take the time to plan. I spend a great deal of time planning my sessions and the various shots I wish to achieve. Second, be comfortable and confident with your equipment. And last, but not least, get to know your clients. Listen to them and include them into your decision making.
