Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at Dubbo zoo in nsw Australia when I was there with some friends

Time

It was taken at about 2 pm on a ridiculously hot day

Lighting

The lighting is all natural but in shade the sun was incredibly bright this day and the tortoises were just trying to escape the heat

Equipment

This phot was actually taken on an iPod 5, without any flash or any other equipment

Inspiration

I took this photo in early 2015 before I was old enough or had the money or trust from my parents to own a good camera, how ever I still liked the idea of artistic photography and saw my chance with the details in the flaky ancient skin of the huge animal

Editing

All of the editing behind it was just on the iPod I was using at the time and I just added black and white filter and gave it a little bit more contrast

In my camera bag

Since then I have moved on to underwater photography using an Olympus to-4 with a dive housing rated to 40 meters

Feedback

I would suggest looking for something high in detail and natural contrast if it's going to be used as a b&w work, a camera with the ability to do relatively close up work goes a long way as well.
