I took this photo at Norris Dam in Tennessee. I am in no way a professional photographer. There is something about old buildings that I believe are absolutely beautiful.Time
This was taken mid-day. I love the outdoors and I am usually up fairly early when I have plans to go to a specific place. I love, love, love sunshine. I am still learning about how I can change lightening effects on my photos.Lighting
I wanted this image to take you back to the "time" when it was an actual running mill. I also think it gives it a mysterious look. When I look at the photo, it automatically makes me wonder about that time period and what it was like for the people who worked there. The mill was shaded a lot by trees, I think that helped with the lighting. I did use photo editing to give it the black and white appearance. I am still a work in progress in photo editing.Equipment
This photo was shot with a Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD. There was no other equipment involved.Inspiration
I love to be outside. My favorite subjects to photograph are old buildings and nature. Old buildings are beautiful to me because of all the history that they have. They radiate a certain "sadness" about them. I love nature pictures because there are so many beautiful things to photograph. I am very fortunate to live so close to the Smoky Mountains. I am surrounded by beautiful waterfalls, flowers, and animals. I am also surrounded by old buildings and barns.Editing
The only processing I did on this photo is make it black and white using Picasa. In my camera bag
Well since I am new at photography, I am still working on all my equipment. At the present time, I just carry my Sony a5100 camera (I got for Christmas) and plenty of blank memory cards. My next purchase will be a telephoto lens.Feedback
I guess the main advice I would give someone is to just get out and explore. This particular place I already knew about. But whenever I am out, I am always looking for photo opportunities. I also believe in keeping things simple. I think that the "less is more" approach is sometimes the best technique in photography.
