Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in the studio at my College.

Time

At night around 7pm, however in the studio time doesn't matter.

Lighting

I used Speed-lights to capture this shot!

Equipment

Nikon D700 85.0 mm f/1.4 ƒ/16.0 85.0 mm 1/250 200 Flash - 2 Speedlights

Inspiration

We were doing a project that involved capturing movement and freezing time.

Editing

Yes, I removed distractions such as the balls of blue-tack that were dropped in the water to create the splash. I also changed the overall hue of the image and dramatically increased the contrast.

In my camera bag

A Nikon D3100 equip with my 50mm lens, I usually use natural light as I prefer it to flash, but not for this type of commercial shot!

Feedback

Shoot in a studio, and be aware of the space around you in order to be safe using water in a studio environment! Speed lights can be great for capturing fast moving action, for example this splash of water!
