The Cave & Basin Hotsprings in Banff National Park, the site of the birthplace of Canada's first and oldest national park as well as the National Parks system. The discovery of this hotspring by 3 Canadian Pacific Rail (CPR) workers in a hole in the ground lead the government in the late 19th century to create a special designated area for public use. With growing popularity this small area expanded to cover what the area is today, and it's importance is highlighted by its designation as a National Historic Site. It is also home to an endangered snail, of which a man was recently find $4500 for swimming in the hotsprings for jeopardising it's existence.
