“This is one corner… of one country, in one continent, on one planet that’s a corner of a galaxy that’s a corner of a universe that is forever growing and shrinking and creating and destroying and never remaining the same for a single millisecond. And there is so much, so much to see.” - The Doctor

I love "So Much To See". That is beautiful. And so very true. God's spoken word of creation is still at work.

Location
This series of photos were taken at one of my favorite night spots, Castlewood Canyon in Franktown, Colorado.Time
These were taken from midnight to 2am, when the sky was at its clearest and there was no other light in sight.Lighting
The lighting and composition were the toughest. First I had to find the North Star and line up the shot. Then I had to cast consistent light on the foreground and hope that no car comes by and ruins it with their headlights.Equipment
This was captured with my trusty little Pentax K30 pared with my Pentax 10mm fisheye lens atop a standard tripod.Inspiration
I have always loved night time photography, especially star trails so the minute I acquired a camera that could, I went for it.Editing
This was a time lapse photo stack of about 175 photos. In my camera bag
I always have my Pentax K3 with me as well as a 50mm prime, a good 10-20mm wide angle lens, a cheap telephoto and maybe a speed light. And batteries!! Tons of batteries!!Feedback
Learn about taking a good star photo, then once you have that down, work on the foreground light painting. Find someplace away from city lights, or any lights for that matter. Always use a tripod, turn off all extra lights to prevent flicker, and be patient, great shots don't come instantly.
