Behind The Lens

Location

An autumnal sunset at Ogmore-on-Sea, South Wales, U.K. Just as I was leaving, I pulled the car over quickly as I saw the ferns and spent the rest of the final moments of the evening there.

Time

This was at sunset around 7:30pm in October.

Lighting

Natural lighting, no added light or reflection.

Equipment

Nikon D800, Sigma 10-20mm f4, manfrotto tripod x055, Lee hard GND filter .9 on the horizon.

Inspiration

The framing of the ferns, the natural leading lines of the clouds and beach, also the majestic setting of an atmospheric sunset.

Editing

Very light editing, just a quick tonal movement and added sharpness. Also profile corrected the distortion of the lens via Lightroom.

In my camera bag

Nikon D800, Sigma 10-20mm f4, manfrotto tripod x055, Lee hard GND filters, a chocolate bar, waterproofs (just incase) that's about it. Don't like to carry much as it gives me too many options to think about.

Feedback

Don't try to be another photographer. Your eyes are unique, use your emotion with what you feel is right and you'll soon become 'that' photographer you look at for inspiration. Also, make sure your horizon is level, no one likes a wonky sea.
