Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outside my house in moss landing California. I lived in the harbor on the slough side and had otters and all kinds of birds right outside my door

Time

This was taken late afternoon. That time of day seems to have the most birds in the slough

Lighting

I wanted to capture the beauty of the egret with the sun low in the sky highlighting it's feathers

Equipment

I am a camera collector and have tons of old and newer cameras. I do tend to lean more towards canon cameras for newer ones. This one was taken with a Canon t3i that I keep on hand for quick shots.

Inspiration

I love the beauty of the slough and all its wildlife. I wanted to capture a moment in time to remember

Editing

I normally do not post process

In my camera bag

In my camera bag I tend to keep my Canon t3i ,Canon AE1 film camera, a Holga and either a Rolliflex or Lupatill twin lens

Feedback

The coast of northern California is beautiful and full of sealife and nature. Moss landing in peticuler offers an abundance of birds , otters , sealions and whales. If your looking to capture the otters and sealions the best time is early morning in the mouth of the harbour. You can hear them miles away. For the bird life mid to late afternoon time tends to be the best
