He might be old, but not that gleam in his eyes.

He's a Kumaoni whom I met in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand, India.

The bright colors contrast nicely to the gentleman's dark skin...looks like you were having quite a conversation with him :)...I'd frame this one...great work!

Yes, I did have a conversation to catch his natural expression and it just worked ! Thankyou, glad that you like it. :)

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in some village in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, India.

Time

This was taken on Jun 21, 2014 at 10.23 am.

Lighting

I wanted to keep it as natural as possible, so it was entirely natural light.

Equipment

Nikon D5300 with 18-140 mm Nikkor lens.

Inspiration

I was on a road trip with family. We were on our way to some place and I remember my father was driving. He spotted a group of old men sitting and having a chat and he loved that sight so much that he wanted me to capture their moments.

Editing

Yes, I did some adjustments on Lightroom.

In my camera bag

These days I am using a Sony Alpha a6000. I have the basic kit lens: 16-50 mm, a zoom lens: 55-200 mm & a prime lens: 50 mm. When not carrying my camera, I capture on my phone OnePlus 7T.

Feedback

When trying a street portrait, keeping it natural and candid while having a conversation with your subject works the best.
