Location
This was taken at Ponca State Park in northeastern Nebraska. I was out with a walk with two friends and the fall colors were beautiful.Time
This was taken in the late afternoon in October, the so-called golden hour. It was definitely golden!Lighting
The late afternoon sun was filtering through the trees, creating a magical atmosphere reflecting off the golden leaves.Equipment
Shot with Canon Rebel T1i, f/4 at 1/60, ISO 400, handheld. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
The path meandering into the woods was so inviting, beckoning us on further and further. I had been taking photos of my friends walking ahead of me, but here waited until they were out of view to snap the photo.Editing
I did just a little post-processing to make the colors pop. I tweaked the contrast, temperature, saturation, vibrance and clarity a bit. The scene didn't really need much post-processing as Mother Nature did most of the work!In my camera bag
Have a new camera, a Canon 7D Mark ii, which is my go-to camera right now. This photo was taken with my Canon Rebel T1i, which I still use for underwater photography. I always have my Tokina 11-16mm wide angle lens and a Canon kit lens, a zoom 55-250mm along. That one is great for zooming in on distant subjects or doing closeups. It's very versatile, and was used for this photo at the 55mm setting.Feedback
Late afternoon sun is the greatest for warm, well-lighted landscapes. Early morning is good too, but I rarely get up at that hour! This photo was not planned, it just happened. But most of my more successful photos have been deliberately planned as to location, time of day, lens, and settings.
