I took this photo on my trip to Gozo Island (Malta Islands) on my traveling holidays.Time
This is one of my favourite images from Malta. I took the picture about mid day on very sunny day, the time of the day which is not the best to take shots really due to strong sunlight and flat colours.Lighting
It was very sunny day so strong sunlight with perfectly blue skies clear of clouds. I set quite a big shutter value but picture was still full of light.Equipment
I used Canon 60D with Canon 17-85 mm F4-5.6 IS USM with fast shutter, hand shot.Inspiration
When preparing myself for the trip to Malta Islands I was advised to visit Gozo Island and the place called Azure Window that you can see on the picture and so I really wanted to go there. As I got to Malta I was offered a day trip around the Islands on the tour boat and when I asked the captain he confirmed we are going to see the Azure Window, so the morning next day I boarded the boat and went on the sailing trip. When we got to Gozo Island we were asked to jump in to the minibus which taken us straight to the rock formation shaping the window. It really inspired me when I saw the rock forming the full window shape and could not stop myself from taking the shot despite of lighting conditions.Editing
For post-processing I only did a little correction on contrast and saturation and so I did on highlights and shadows. No more correction was done.In my camera bag
The kit I usually carry in my bag is my Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 and the other Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 which are both equivalent to Canon L lenses but simply cheaper. I also pack my Canon 60D. All those are quite heavy equipment but I like when it weights so much as it is easier to balance for hand shooting and they're all built-like-a-tank so don't have to worry when shooting outdoors in rainy weather or in the desert dust. I also like my Canon 50mm f1.4 which is really small monkey and doing a great job for street photography.Feedback
Try to think through your shot, compose it in the viewfinder, check what you can see and if you are happy with the composition just take shot. I always try to take a few shots from different angles. Look at your object from different perspective and just shoot it.
