Location
I live in Cronulla, Sydney, Australia, near the ocean. This place is just a few minutes away from my apartment.Time
My friends and I woke up early to watch the sunrise. We had no idea how it would turn out but got up anyways.Lighting
I had a vision of my friends sitting on this bench underneath my favourite tree. I definitely wanted to capture the beautiful sunrise colours and showing the tree as a silhouette. At the same time I wanted my friends to be recognisable. So, I took three different shots with different lightening settings and merged them together as HDR.Equipment
I used my Canon 5D snd a tripod for this photo.Inspiration
I always loved this tree in front of the ocean. The evening before the shooting day, I could see a vision of that photo in my mind and knew I had to take it. At that time, my friends from Germany came to visit me. So, I simply asked them if they wanted a great memory of Australia. Of course they couldn’t say no. I feel this photo is also a great reminder to remember and appreciate the little things in life - each other and the sunrise every day. Being connected to nature is helping us to tune into who we really are, to feel grounded and love life the way it is. Especially in recent times, where the world seems to be upside down, remember how important it is to connect with nature and other humans. United we win.Editing
I applied the HDR technique and combined three different exposures. I then fine tuned some more details and colour adjustments until I liked it and matched my vision I had before. In my camera bag
I always carry my canon 5D, a wide angle lens from Canon and my new favourite a canon macro lens 100mm f2.8. I also have a zoom lens from Tamron but am not a big fan of it anymore. For sunrise or sunset photos I carry my tripod, extra batteries and remote control.Feedback
My advice is to follow your inspirations and having fun. Play around and try different angles and techniques until you find what you love. Creativity comes from within by following your heart.
