Away from the tourist mecca that is Bali, I came across this charming man in a small beachside village. Requesting permission to photograph him, he seemed reluctant yet agreeable (and my inability to speak Indonesian did not help). This is when I discovered the true magic of digital photography. When I showed him his own image on the LCD monitor he laughed and totally relaxed. Grinning from ear to ear exposing his complete lack of teeth, we shook hands and said our goodbyes. Human connectedness it seems was achieved with my camera as the tool. Photography knows no boundaries in a world of such extreme diversity.
