I took this photo at lake trahlyta in Vogel state park in Georgia.Time
the time of dal was around 10 am I usualy walk around the lake in the morning hours as I live close by. At this particular time I just happened to have my camera with me and when I got around to the far end of the lake I saw this view and I knew this would be a great shot. The sky was a gorgeous blue and the lake was like glass and this capture is just as it was that day.Lighting
I'm an opportunistic photographer and like the idea of taking pictures of everyday things when the lighting is right. I like using sunlight, especial when it comes to shooting landscape, at just the right time. If the sun isn't in the right place the color and shape won't have that pop effect. So if I have my camera and I come across an awesome opportunity like this particular photo shot I find the right place for the best composition in my view and shoot. Sometimes it doesn't work out as I expect but there are always other opportunities.Equipment
I used a Leica VLUX 1 DSLR which has a fixed lens from 35mm 140mm, no flash, hand held. With this shot I believe I was at 35mm.Inspiration
I love shooting landscape and nature inspired shots. This was a beautiful morning and the fall colors, well just look at the picture and you can see why it I was inspired to take this photo.Editing
Due to some color diffusion from the camera I made some slight finishing tweaks with color saturation to bring the color to how it appeared in person by maybe 1 or 2 degrees on a photo adjustment program. The program I used was paint.net, a useful and simple basic paint shop program. In my camera bag
In this particular instance I only had my camera but sometimes I'll have my tripod, a fresh battery and that's it because my Leica is a fixed zoom lens camera so I can travel light.Feedback
I have taken the same shot of this Lake in all four seasons, fall is the best and winter is striking also especial with heavy snow. If your wanting to photograph landscape just remember the sun is your light source and time of day is very important, use it effectively and you'll have many great photos in your portfolio. Whatever your pleasure or whatever interest you photographically, lighting, time of day, if the sun is your light source, are very important to getting the photo that makes you proud. Keep your eyes open and use the light effectively. Oh and keep your camera close by. You'll never get your shot without it.
