Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at home in the fields chasing his favourite toy about.

Time

This was in the afternoon while my girlfriend was ridding her horse, I took Ace up to the fields to make sure he wasn't distracting her ridding. He loves to chase his rope toy.

Lighting

I had no flash or lighting equipment at the time so this was just natural light, a cloudy day but still very bright out.

Equipment

This was shot hand held on my Canon EOS 600D with a 55mm - 250mm lens at f5.

Inspiration

I just love to capture animals and pets having fun, This was rare shot I got of him sitting still as he was waiting for his toy to be thrown.

Editing

I just Lightroom just to brighten it up a little but that was all. I don't do much post-Processing for this kind of shot.

In my camera bag

I always have my Sigma 24mm - 70 F2.8 on my Canon EOS 600D. The other two lens I keep in the bag are Canon 50mm f1.8 and the Cannon 55mm - 250mm. Always have space SD cards and extra batteries. The new addition that I love is the Joby Gorrila pod Zoom which is small and light enough to go in the bag or just hang of the strap. It's great for the unexpected shots you need a tripod for.

Feedback

Have fun! With animal photography you can't be afraid to get down on the ground to their level. You get the best shots this way. You have to be fast as they don't stay still very long so using burst mode will help and using AI Servo focus mode.
