This photo was taken in Tarpon Springs, Florida under a bridge where a lot of homeless people hang out.Time
My nephew (who is also a photographer) and I decided to wake up at 4:30 in the morning to catch the sunrise and hopefully get some shots of it. It was in January so it was a very cold and foggy morning when we got to the bridge and started taking photos of the sunrise by bending around the mangroves. When I turned around I saw this beautiful Egret under the bridge facing the rising sun.Lighting
The rising sun along with the cold mist on the water made it for a mysterious old fashioned kind of lighting. The yellow from the Egret is from the rising sun and I believe it gives it a beautiful effect.Equipment
My camera is a Nikon D3200, I had to use a tripod as well which my nephew promptly made fun of because it was just a cheap light weight one lol. The lens I used is a Sigma 70-300Inspiration
I live in Colorado so going back home with a camera in hand to take some photos by the water was a real treat. I wanted to get up and catch the sunrise because of the gold tones it casts and quite frankly it either rained or was heavily overcast almost the entire time I was there. This photo was taken with a lot of prayer for the rain to hold off and allow me to get some great morning shots and it did. It also rained the rest of the day.Editing
The only post processing I did was enhance the color 1 click. This photo is minimally processedIn my camera bag
In my bag I have my Nikon D3200, Sigma 70-300 lens, Nikkor 18-55, wireless shutter release, extra battery, cloths for cleaning, a few extra memory cards, nothing really fancy. I also have a Sigma 150-500mm lens that I don't put in my bag but carry separately if I think I'm going to need it.Feedback
Tarpon Springs is a very unique town in Florida. It has a lot of Greek culture and it being right on the Gulf of Mexico it normally gives you a lot of photo opportunities. This particular shot with the yellows and oranges is best taken at sunrise.
