I have shot tens of thousands of photos, but this photo I took on a camera phone of my niece and my Dad, 83, as they say "hello, good-bye and I love you" is the most precious image I have ever shot. And one of my last images of my Dad.

I took this image Jan. 10, 2015, one day before my Dad's temporary pacemaker was disconnected. He passed away in the wee hours of the morning Jan. 12 with his entire family by his side.

My Dad, James Davenport, was a very special man, who also encouraged my passion: photography.

My Dad had an incredible bond with his family. He is greatly missed. I hope this image will inspire others to be better grandparents or grandchildren and to love across generations. I know my Dad would like that.
