Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taking in Miami Florida off of Golden Glades Station. I took this photo from a walkway where I can get the most from the picture

Time

This picture was taking the first week of the start of daylight saving ending. Around 6 o'clock on my way to catch the train heading to college. The cars was coming from north and south heading to work when I notice all the head lights and tell lights.

Lighting

The lighting was natural, My only concern, was to focus on the cars headlights and taillights and the aperture and shutter speed settings on my camera. I wanted to get set up and shoot quickly before the sun comes up or I'll lose my shot. The window was short so I had to be precise

Equipment

Nikon D5100 on a tripod. The lens was 18-35 set at F22 with a shutter speed at 5 or 10 seconds

Inspiration

I was inspired actually by the silk photos of people capturing water to make it a ghost effect. I was so amazed by it I wanted to experience on the urban environment such as street cars or artificial lighting such as flashlights or lamps.

Editing

Nothing in particular, because it was on the tripod the camera shake was limited so it was no need to have two photos to combined. I use one raw file and enhance the contrast and clarity as well made a custom filter to give it that grain effect of living north of America. The reason of the filter because Florida is relevant a one season state.

In my camera bag

I don't have alot of equipment so I do the most with my prime lenses. 35mm 1.8 and 50mm 1.8. Sometimes I bring my kit lenses and my telephoto lens 50 - 200 f4 to 5.8. I carry light because I just enjoy being able to shoot landscapes. I also carry filters for my lens just in case for bright.

Feedback

Have fun with it. Normally you want to take the picture early in the morning before sunrise or towards the sun setting. Make sure your aperture is between f15 to f22 or f30 if your lens goes to a higher number. Filters can also give you these effects, Imagine capturing a picture of the beach in mid-morning or late in the evening with filters. The darker the filter the better the results. More importantly have fun and enjoy yourself, this world is a photography dream
