Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken in my backyard

Time

Night

Lighting

For nighttime shooting, I usually use a small stationary light, placed behind or to the side of the subject.

Equipment

Simple Sony DSC H7, no tripod, no flash. Just lots of patience.

Inspiration

I am fascinated by Spiders. They are not cute & cuddly, but they are quite amazing. Watching a Spider spin a web, watching the intricate and delicate nature of their work is very impressive. Also the variety in shape, color & size of Spiders allows innumerable opportunities for a photographer.

Editing

Post processing included focus adjustment, using several filters to enhance the colors in this tiny Spider, and to create the dark-dream mood.

In my camera bag

2-3 cameras, 2-3 lenses, extra batteries.

Feedback

Not all shots are obvious, you need to be very observant and very patient. In the case of Spiders, they are generally shy, and most active at night. Be prepared to sit and just 'watch' for a long time... it will be worth the wait.
