Behind The Lens

Location

Rajaji National Park, Haridwar, India. Near the holy place of Haridwar lies a national park reserved forest area for protecting the wild animals. Known for tiger trails and also near to Jim Corbett. The trip started from the Hotel early in the morning at 4:30 till we reached the check posts in a safari outpost. This outposts was up there to help the people climb to safety in case of tigers nearby. The sun was up and the clear landscape provided a great view of the area around.

Time

Went on the safari around 4:30 in the morning and by 5:15 we were inside the National Park. The weather was cold as this was in January and close to the Himalayas the weather real chilly. As we drove through the park the cold wind was flowing right on my face making my face cold and numb till the sun broke out and slowly started rising. We got down at the outpost to view the sun and was taken from the ground below before climbing the outpost between 5:45-6:00.

Lighting

The lighting is all natural as we can see the rays of sun bathing the nearby park flowing through the grass and trees making them glow from far providing a natural perfection.

Equipment

Used my Mobile at that time the HTC Sensation XE for the point and shoot. Took with other phone and a canon camera but this was the best shot.

Inspiration

Growing up in a city with less natural wonders around other than desserts the nature always wonders me and the animals in it. I decided to journey around the country looking for great photo opportunities and wildlife photography. My first stop was the Rajaji National park. It was an early day but as soon as i climbed that safari jeep i was thrilled and then as we rode through the park and the sun rising and shining in the sky i wanted an opportunity to etch this beauty into a photo. We stopped the Jeep and stood there enjoying and taking the photo of the sun rising and spreading its light and warmth and along with it shining upon the animals in the forest. The beauty of the sun. the landscape around it and the warmth of the morning sun in a cold winter morning all makes this special.

Editing

May ahve used in built editing tools to improve clarity and reduce noise nothing other than that.

In my camera bag

Before it has been a Canon 500D and a 18-55MM lens. Now it is Nikon D5300 with 18-55 mm lens, 75-300 mm lens, 500 m lens with multiplier, 4 additional batteries, charger, extra memory card and cleaning accesories.

Feedback

I am an amateur photographer i shoot landscapes or images that i feel close to and i would like to remember. Having something you want to remember be etched in the form of a photo would improve you and always help you remember. It is always important to be ready for those rare moments that is hard to capture but beautiful when you capture it. To be ready for the rarest of all those photos and be amazed by the nature and the gifts of nature.
