Behind The Lens

Location

Several years ago I was working in the Owens Valley just outside of Independence, California. I notice these small barren Juniper trees and I thought they soul look interesting if I could make the look like big trees. I got on my belly with camera in one hand a remote flash in the other.

Time

The image was capture in the afternoon hour probably around 3pm

Lighting

The sun was to my right an slightly behind me. I was using a Nikon Sb700 with a Pocket Wizard

Equipment

At the time, I was shooting a Nikon d300s with a 17-55mm f2.8 lens. I was on my stomach and my elbows were the truth pod. One flash(sb700 with Pocket Wizard transceiver/receiver)

Inspiration

God inspires me. He makes it and I just want to remember it.

Editing

I use Lightroom and in this photo I used very little processing other than lowering the highlights and lens correction.

In my camera bag

I used to carry a ton of equipment with me because I want to make sure I had the right, whatever with me. Now, I carry just the bare minimum. I have a Nikon d500(great camera) a 17-55 or a 28-300, depending on what I’m shooting or where and one Flashpoint Zoom LI-ON flash.

Go out and fun and be prepared to get dirty
