Behind The Lens

Location

We were on vacation in Belwood Ontario and out for a drive. I always have my bag open in the back seat, at the ready.

Time

We just had lunch, as we passed a horse farm we noticed the horses seemed to be playful and in good spirits, We stopped. It was early May 2012.

Lighting

The air was fresh, clear and the sun was high overhead.

Equipment

This was shot with my back up a Nikon 7000 with a 70-300 mm zoom lens

Inspiration

I was shooting the horses grazing in the field. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed this horse galloping across the field. I zoomed in on him and panned. It was just luck I captured this horse with not a Hoof on the ground.

Editing

I try to do as little post as possible, I prefer to work with the glass and camera to get the shot.

In my camera bag

In my travel bag I have a Nikon 610 and 7000 bodies. I have some basic lenses; 70-300, 1/4-85, 60mm macro, 18-55 and a 55mm pancake lens. Along with ring flash, extra batteries, charger, cards and cleaning supplies. If something or someplace interesting comes along I'm usually all equipped.

Feedback

I try to have an idea of what I want and where to shoot. However, so many times plans change on the way to our destination, as with the horses. That is why I try to be ready to adapt quickly to a change of plans. The most important thing needed is patience.
