A winter sunrise from Saint's Harbour on Guernsey's west coast.

I must give a very big credit to local photographer Nick Despres for inspiring this shot. Nick is a real pioneer of seascape photography, taking beautiful large format images, long before the digital revolution, and before I had any real interest in photography.

Although I never go out to copy another photographer's work, I must admit I was heavily inspired by one of his photos which appears on out local stamps and I wanted to take a shot with a similar composition but with the waves breaking over the platform. This is the result of a lot of attempts to capture just the right conditions of light and tide.
