This photo was taken at an upscale Latin night club in the Toronto Ontario Canada Region for their "Greatest Gatsby" event.Time
This was shot indoors late into the night. Somewhere around 1am.Lighting
The lighting in the nightclub where the Naked Sushi was happening was nil. There really was no lighting in this vicinity so I had to use flash.Equipment
I used my Pentax APS-C camera (K-30) and a TTL Vivitar 383-PEN flash and Gary Fong Half Cloud diffuser along with my artistic eye!Inspiration
When shooting for nightclubs, it's vitally important to capture the actual essence of what's going on since the club will use the images for marketing. I've never seen anything like this before and I felt it really showed how unique this nightclub event wasEditing
I didn't do much to this photo since I wanted the actual ambience of the scene to come through. Gritty, intriguing, that sort of thing. I slightly adjusted the tone curve and adjusted blacks and shadows as well as vibrancy. Small adjustments as I wanted to retain the original look as I remembered it.In my camera bag
Now days I have a Pentax K-3, a Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4 DC Macro HSM lens and a Pentax HD DA 55-300 ED PLM WR lens. I always have my tripod with me as well (fits in a little slot on my bag).Feedback
Always pay the upmost attention to your surroundings. Things happen in an instant. The more you pay attention the more you'll be able to know something will happen before it actually does. This way, you'll always be ready to get that shot.
