Great shot! Wish there was a bit more in the shot but that's not a problem here! It really works!

Location
I visited The Tees Barrage in Stockton one day, and when I noticed how calm the water was I mentioned to my wife Wendy how I would like to return one night.Time
I waited until 2230hrs then due to the excitement of the challenge we set off, arrived at the Barrage at approx' 2315 hrs. As I'd hoped the water had just a slight ripple on it.Stayed for over an hour.Lighting
The bridge unknown to me at the time was lit up with lights that change from dark to light of whichever colour is on at the time. This was a fantastic bonus for me in so much that it gave a brilliant reflection not just of the lights themselves but it also illuminated the bridgeEquipment
I used a Canon 5D Mk3, lens was a Tamron 10-24mm I had to tie my tripod to a railing so that I could get the angle I wanted, no flash was usedInspiration
My inspiration came form viewing other peoples images, I have always wanted to try night photography and reflections are something most people love, the actual location was inviting me to step up to the line and give it a go. I'm a great believer in doing not thinking about things.Editing
I use Lightroom and Photoshop, and as I shoot in RAW Neutral I try to replicate the colours that I see, not what the camera records, I find a lot of people over saturate their colours, which in fantasy is great, but I try to get as close as possible to real life, it's what entices me to take the photo' in the first place. In my camera bag
Depending on my reason for taking photographs I pack different lenses. Usually it's my 5D Mk3, with 24-70mm 2.8L, 6D with my walkabout 24-105mm L I take a 7D body, and 70-200mm 2.8 L, in case I need speed, and a wide angle 20mm prime or 10-24mm. ND4 & 10, a CPL and Grad filter.Cleaning cloth's lens wipes and a Giotto blower and a shutter release, clipped to my pack a sturdy tripod & water flaskFeedback
My only advice is to not be afraid to try, failure can sometimes be the thing that will make you more positive. Study other peoples photographs read about technique but try to develop your own. Take lots of photo's, vary your work so will find what you are good at and comfortable with, ask questions, listen to and watch other photographers. Don't blame your equipment for your lack of success, try harder to understand your camera and lenses, but most of all, ENJOY yourself, live it love it and one day it will all come together. Good Luck
