Great picture, bcb. We have the same tastes in subject matter. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your pictures. Dave

Location
This photo was taken on the south side of Mt. St. Helens. Was an extremely cold day so there were no others around.Time
This was taken fairly early in the morning.Lighting
Lighting was perfect due to our our arrival time.Equipment
Nikon D300 with a 70-300mm lense. This was the first time using this camera. I knew just enough about settings but didn't think the picture would turn out the way it did. Was using a tripod at the time.Inspiration
The photo was taken in an area with no one around. I was only a few feet from the car. Lower down the mountain the wind was howling but we found a completely protected area. Mt. St. Helens is one of my favorite mountains. I had never approached from this side before.Editing
No, I loaded it to Lightroom but the picture, to me seemed perfect. No edit was done.In my camera bag
My Nikon D300, 70-300mm, 16-85mm and my 50mm lens. Usually carry my tripod but really like to shoot freehand. As I wanted details I chose to use the tripod.Feedback
I took my time trying various shots. The tree trunk in the foreground I thought gave a good scale of the mountain in the background. I really took my time! My gut usually tells me when to take a photo!
