Love Hurts

I’ve captured a series of images portraying victims in abusive relationships. This is in fact a very controversial subject, as it is such a common incident in society, and it’s such a broad term with no regulation or baseline.

One in every three teenagers reports a known friend who has been physically hurt by their partner. One in every five teenage girls has been threatened with violence or self-harm, once they present their boyfriends with a break-up. 13% of teenage girls who has been in relationships, have reported being physically abused. One in every four teenage girls reveals being pressured by their partners to perform oral sex or engage in intercourse. More than one in every four teenage girls that has been in a relationship (26%), report enduring repeated verbal abuse. Most shockingly, nearly 80% of girls who have been physically abused in their intimate relationship, continue to date their abuser.
